SOAP BIBLE Felt (black and gold/yellow) Soap bar Glue Ribbon for sides of soap (gold or yellow) Glue it to the bar of soap. If you use black felt it will look almost like a bible. Take your ribbon, glue it to the edges of soap bar that is visible (3 sides). Cut out the letters BIBLE from gold or yellow felt and glue to the front of your "Bible". Or you may use craft paint. The main piece of felt should be one piece to fold over the soap. This craft is excellent for all ages. |
Edible Jewellery. This is a very creative and fun way to play with your food! You will need shoe string liquorice (not the rope style, as the liquorice will be the string) and goodies that have some sort of hole in them. e.g. Cheerio’s, pretzels, gummy lifesavers, mini donuts & dried applerings. String the items along the liquorice 'thread' and tie the two ends together. You can make necklaces and bracelets! |

You need various different colours of paper - you can use plain, wrapping paper, magazine paper, foil paper, textured paper...any paper you think will create an interesting effect! Cut the paper into strips about 5cm wide and then cut the strips so that you have lots of little squares. Don't worry about being too accurate since this adds to the effect. Choose a background paper (we used construction paper) and plan your design. You can make light pencil marks & make it as simple or complicated as you like - if you have any curves you will have to cut your squares into smaller pieces to fit. When your picture is finished you may want to protect it by laminating it. These make wonderful place mats! |
Potato Face
Supplies needed: A brown paper grocery bag (or brown construction paper) Various colours of construction paper, scissors, pencil & glue Using the brown paper bag (or brown construction paper), cut out potato shape - at least as big as your hand. Cut out the eyes (the whites plus the darker inner part), a nose, a mouth, hair, a bowtie, and any other desired features from the coloured paper. Glue the features onto the brown paper potato head. |

| "Thankful For" book Need: construction paper, markers, scissors & Have children trace their hands (on light card would be best)and have them cut them out. They can write their name and what they are thankful for on it. Put all the hands together and staple to make a book. optional - you can also punch a hole at the top of each one and thread string through to make a banner and hang! Another idea from the ideabox :) |

Craft & Hygene Recipes
bunch lavender Place the bunch of lavender head down in a clean, screw-top wide mouth jar. You really only need the flowers, so cut off any long stalks. Add the shampoo and the lavender oil. Close the jar and place it on a sunny windowsill for two or three weeks, shaking occasionally. Strain the liquid and rebottle. Bubble Recipe 9 tbsp liquid detergent Stir together carefully so that the mixture doesn’t froth up too much. Tip the mixture into a large flat dish to allow a variety of bubble blowers to be used. For homemade bubble blowers, try the following: wire or plastic twisty ties bent into the required shape, blowers cut from the lids of plastic containers, cotton reels or other plastic tubes such as wool cones, plastic rings held with a string clip peg, your fingers! Slime Recipe 2 1/2 c. flour Mix coffee grounds, salt, and sand. Gradually stir in water until mixture holds together. Use as little water as possible to speed drying process. The more water you use, the longer it takes to dry. This recipe is good because when dry, the fossil looks like a rock.
Lavender Bubble Bath
1 large bottle clear organic shampoo
5 drops lavender essential oil Herbal Milk Bath ( makes enough for 4 baths)
1 cup Cornstarch
1 cup Dry Milk Powder
2 teaspoons of your Favourite Herbs
Combine ingredients in food processor or blender. Add herbs and blend.
Directions for use: Add 1/cup of mixture to hot bath water
1 tbsp glycerine(will make the bubbles stronger and last longer)
1 cup soap flakes
4 cups hot water
Dissolve the soap flakes in the hot water in a large bowl or pail. Add colour if desired and leave to stand for at least an hour. The resulting play material will froth up if beaten, pours easily and is extremely slimy to touch! It keeps very well.
Gloop Recipe
2 cups cornflour
1 cup cold water
Pour the cornflour into a bowl. Add the cold water slowly, stirring constantly and stop when the water is barely absorbed by the cornflour. The resulting solution is fascinating to play with. It can be scooped up with the fingers as a mouldable material, but flows like liquid back into the bowl. It will brush off clothing as a dry powder.
2 1/2 c. used coffee grounds
1 1/2 c. salt
1 c. sand
up to 1 c. water
